The word freedom is what I think about when I think of my personal style. I dress how I feel, whether that means looking like a couch potato, or the hottest thing in the room. How you put pieces together is a form of art, and can say a lot to the world before you even speak. For me, I never aim to be best dressed or claim to dress better than everyone else, because that isn’t my goal. My goal is to curate a fit that I feel most confident in within a given moment.

Cozy Girl

I’d like to describe my style as “cozy chic.” I must say that working for Nike has changed my outlook on what I thought women should dress like. A fun fact about me is I hate clothing that makes me feel restricted, so I tend to put my comfort before anything. I have a rule of thumb I normally follow. If my top is tight, my bottoms are loose, vice versa. Of course I break that rule every so often, depending on what vibe I’m going for.

When I first saw this tracksuit I knew it was for me. I didn’t care who already had it because we all look different in it. Here are some of the little things I did to “personalize” mine.

  • Bought the top oversized so it could hang off my shoulders

  • used a hair band to tuck the jacket and make it cropped

  • rolled the cuffs of my pants so my socks can show

  • Added a sexy touch by showing a little cleavage

The best outfits in my opinion are effortless. You ever plan an outfit in your head, and get excited because you think it’ll look good, but the mirror and camera tells you otherwise?! Well, you’re not alone. This is me all the time. I get frustrated because it makes me feel as though I have no sense of style, but I realized that it’s all about trial, error, and getting creative. Style is something that you can own. You can choose whether you want to change it or keep it the same, and that’s what I love most about it.

My main accessories are my fro, earrings, and believe it or not, lipgloss lol. Those three combined can make any outfit POP for me!

Staring at my future like…

It’s time

I was blessed enough to grow up in a city that inspires me on a daily basis. I could be in a funk and not want to dress up for days, and a simple train ride to work could change that. Seeing how other people put their pieces together could be the perfect way to begin creating looks. Also, it’s okay to be inspired, what’s not okay is copying, giving no credit, and not putting your own personal touch on things!
