During the month of august Latricia Morgan aka theartsyplug on IG, hosted a photoshoot pop-up in Williamsburg. Upon arrival it was $20, and customers received about 10-12 edited photos. She provided a variety of props, and clothing items for purchase so we could create whatever look/feel we were going for.

The goal of this shoot was for me to get comfortable in front of a camera again, after 5 months of not shooting. I did not want to use the props as a crutch, so I challenged myself to just use a chair. In about 30 minutes, we made magic.

Quarantine hit my life pretty hard and I had no desire to take photos. My spirit wasn't in it. I knew I had to do something to get myself inspired again. Reminding yourself what you’re capable of and the work that you can produce is the perfect way. It’s like realizing you the shit all over again!

I’ll admit, taking these photos was not easy. I was uncomfortable, shy, awkward if you will. Working with a new photographer also added to these emotions. It made me hold back a bit. However once Latricia told me “If you’re going to do a pose, I need you to commit to it,” then went on to demonstrating, I knew I was working with a someone who knew exactly what they were doing. This made me relax, and get to work.

In short, make sure you do things that’ll keep you inspired. Creating fake excuses of why you cant do something will only hold you back from the future you dream of having. Although this photoshoot was 30 minutes of my life, it helped me get ahead in my goal towards becoming a content creator.
